Sep 29, 2015  I've got an LG BP325 3D Slim Smart Blu-ray, and was wondering whether there is a hack to make the DVD playback region-free? (It's currently set to region 2) Many thanks.

As there are threads for the US i thought a UK one would help myself and others like me. I dont want to import a player if i dont have to. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance There isn't one.

Repeat: an Off The Shelf region-free blu ray player does not exist in the UK in any shape or form. There was one a number of years ago from Tesco's, but that has long since been discontinued. It was the Technika BRSS10 and was handset hackable. Perhaps ebay might be the place to start.

I used to have one before it was wrecked in a house fire. I'm now stuck with a handfull of Region A locked BD's, inc Hatchet 1 and The Cannonball Run. There are plenty of options listed in this very thread. The hard part will be finding stock as many of the easily modded players have been superseded.

Specifically the Toshiba BDX3200 could be loaded with Australian firmware and then the region change was just a couple of button presses away! You still see these for sale on eBay from time to time. I believe there are a few other Tosh models that can use a similar feature. There are tons of options on eBay. You can pick up a pre-chipped Panasonic for £170 ish. If your after spending more you could import an Oppo which is also a very popular choice. I use a Denon purchased here in the UK which uses USB sticks to change the region.

If you have the time you can even get a fat PS3 to play region A discs. I used to do this but the wheel came off eventually as I couldn't play a variety of newer titles as they needed firmware updates which would override the custom firmware required for the Blu Ray region hack.
